Acting, Performance & Improv

Starts July 11

Ages 14-17. July 11-15, 9am-12pm

With the instructor, students will learn the value of improv and performance as part of the larger writing process, resulting in a Flash Theater intensive and weekend performance. Over the course of the week, students will collaborate on creating a narrative built from short scenes produced through improv and rehearsal. Students will use tools such as playful improv, meditation, collaboration, ensemble building, roundtable discussions, and laughter as ways to write this larger narrative as a team. Once a series of short scenes has been established, students will hone and rehearse the story they’ve agreed upon. Upon wrapping the course, students will perform the story they have written for family and friends.

A note about Covid: As it stands, the plan for this course is to be in-person. FilmNorth will be monitoring the state of Covid and making decisions about safety as the situation unfolds. This course may be adapted to an outdoor park space format if things are deemed unsafe.

Tuition: $195
