Funding & Marketing Your Film

2 sessions: Thursdays, November 5–12, 6:30–9:30pm

This workshop is designed for those seeking information on funding and marketing independent work. Session one covers building budgets, fiscal agents, foundation options, crowdsourcing campaigns, house parties, sponsorships, and “the ask.” Session two covers perfecting your pitch, social media marketing, creating an online presence, public relations, film festivals, and distribution options. Class participants who wish to pitch projects will receive funding and marketing feedback.

Tuition: $100 regular/$75 member/$55 low-income

She recently completed her first project as a Final Cut X editor. Angels Alleluia premiered on Rocky Mountain PBS in December 2014. Pam is currently producing and directing a documentary on GLBT elders and marriage equality, a project for which she launched her first Indiegogo campaign in the summer of 2014. Her credits include narrative and documentary work: Writer/Director, Freedom’s Price (1984); Writer/Director, Speak Truth to Power, A Portrait of Polly Mann (1994); Producer, The Unapologetic Life of Margaret Randall (2002); Producer, Wellstone! (2004); Producer/Director, Fertile Ashes (2011); Producer/Director, Secrets for Mom (2013). Recently, Pam took first place at the Moth storytelling slam in Saint Paul.

IFP MN Class Registration Guidelines

  • Registration deadlines are listed with course descriptions. Space is assigned on a first-come basis. Registrations must be paid in full to be valid.
  • If minimum enrollment has not been reached, IFP MN may cancel the class. If so, students will be notified the week of the class and receive a full refund.
  • For students wishing to cancel a registration prior to the registration deadline, 100% of the tuition will be refunded minus a $15 administration fee. For cancellations after the registration deadline but prior to the first session, 50% of the tuition will be refunded minus a $15 administration fee. Once a course begins, no refunds will be given.
  • Tuition is not prorated for missed class sessions.
