IFP Summer Camps 2016: Narrative Boot Camp (ages 13-17)

Starts July 18

Monday–Friday, July 18–22, 12–4 pm

Anyone can pick up a camera and press record, but what distinguishes a home video from a film? In this weeklong story lab, you’ll learn the elements of narrative filmmaking while creating an original narrative film of your own. From script writing and shot planning, to shooting and editing, you’ll be a part of every step of a film’s production, experiencing firsthand the discipline of storytelling and gaining invaluable perspective that will give you an edge in the world at large.

Tuition: $240

Nicole Brending has directed over 10 short films, has screened at over 50 festivals worldwide, garnering awards at Academy-qualifying festivals such as the “Prix de Varti” at Ann Arbor, “Best of the Fest” at Palm Springs, and a Student Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. As a screenwriter she has worked with Nicole Kidman, Catherine Hardwicke, and the infamous Robert Evans, among others, and her most recent script was selected for the 2015 Nantucket Screenwriters Colony. Her work has received support from the Jerome Foundation (2007, 2008, 2012), the McKnight Foundation (2009), the Milos Foreman Finishing Fund, and her feature project PRESERVATION was an official selection to the 2011 Berlinale Co-Production Market. Nicole received her MFA from the Film Program at Columbia University.
