FilmNorth is sad to report that we did not receive nearly enough submissions to mount the competition and exhibition this year. We have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s competition. We are studying our outreach strategies and would welcome your suggestions and thoughts.

FilmNorth’s Mobile Photography Competition debuted in 2017 to celebrate mobile photography artists and their work. This biennial competition features a gallery exhibition in our Marsden/Gustafson Gallery, which also hosts gallery exhibitions throughout the year, showcasing the work of emerging and established artists including Tia-Simone Gardner, Lisa Nebenzahl, Keith Taylor, Teo Nguyen, Luke Erickson, Wilson Webb, Scott Streble, and Michal Daniel.

FilmNorth’s Mobile Photography Competition does not have a theme–rather, it celebrates all artistic voices. “Find Your Voice” is FilmNorth’s guiding principle, so we encourage all artists to submit images that represent their unique point of view.

25-30 works will be selected for exhibition in our Marsden/Gustafson Gallery January 30th-February 27, 2020. Selected images must be matted and framed up to 16” x 20” to professional standards, white mat with simple black metal or wood frame and shipped to/dropped off at FilmNorth by January 16, 2020. After the show we will either return the print to you (we cover shipping), you may pick it up in person, or you may choose to donate the image to FilmNorth.

If you prefer, FilmNorth will print and frame your photographs for you upon acceptance for $15 per image. After the show we will either return the print to you (we cover shipping), you may pick it up in person, or you may choose to donate the image to FilmNorth.
