FilmNorth collaborates with area schools to offer in-school filmmaking residencies. Our in-school residencies bring digital storytelling and filmmaking tools to the classroom.
Partnering with teachers, FilmNorth Youth Programs staff and teaching artists focus on ways to infuse educational curriculum with creative expression. Residency curriculum is designed to be adaptable to fit the needs and interests of each class. Generally, students work in small groups to create short films that address a topic they are learning about in class, document a project a class or school is working on, explore a social issue affecting their community, or a personal story. To discuss arranging a FilmNorth in-school residency at your school, teachers or administrators should contact Youth Programs Director Robert Ndondo-Lay.
