Interested in film, theater and dance? Join us at IFP MN on Thursday, November 17th for an exciting peek behind the curtain as Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater (SPDT) unveils its new stage work, Matinee.
Matinee is a dance/theater/film adaptation of American novelist Robert Coover’s New Yorker short story of the same name, by SPDT Artistic Co-Directors Stuart Pimsler and Suzanne Costello in collaboration with filmmaker Andrew Welken. In it, films-within-films-within-films collide as performers search for connection and romance moving effortlessly through the stage and screen.
The evening will explore the integration of film and projection in live stage productions, diving into both the technical and creative challenges and opportunities presented through discussion and Q&A with the collaborators, as well as a performance excerpt of Matinee. The presentation will be followed by a reception and the chance to further connect with SPDT company members and collaborators.
