Description
In 1922, General Mills decided to build a grocery store business after seeing the success of Piggly-Wiggly in the south and started Red Owl in Rochester MN. It was run by a filmmaker who learned to be a CEO and for a time, was an enormous business. Its iconic Owl logo is still widely recognized by people of a certain age.
