Do you spend time imagining how it feels like to be standing in the director’s shoes behind a scene of one your favorite films? If your goal is to work in the film industry and be on a set, it’s vital to know the mechanics of a film set, the function of each role and hierarchy, and how to communicate with cast and crew. We’ll discuss these elements and then shoot several practical scenes and practice being in various film crew positions.

Topics covered:
• On-set film crew hierarchy
• Scheduling for a shooting day
• Professional approach to a take/shot
• How to communicate on a film set
• How to function in several primary crew roles

Aspiring filmmakers will leave with basic knowledge of operating on a film set. Pursuing directors will understand the importance of communication and learn how to better manage time to ensure a professional shoot. Bring a phone camera and charger for class exercises. There is a lunch break.
